CYCLING IN CHINCHERO/LARES

Technical trails for experienced riders. You may not have heard much about Mountain Biking in Peru, but you are sure to go home and tell everyone you know about it. More than seven hundred years ago the Incas built a network of paths which today provided some of the most extensive mountain bike trails in the world. From technical single track to gentler fire roads, huge descent to big air, mountain biking in Cusco has all it. The paths you will bike are still used by local villagers giving you unmatched opportunities to scape from the tourist and see the real Perú.

We PERÚ QUEST will take you to know some routes and we are sure that they will fascinate you from start to finish, enjoying majestic landscapes and obviously experiencing pure adrenaline that you are looking for so much and you love to feel it in each challenge.

<< CYCLING IN CHINCHERO/LARES

This is another great opportunity to continue enjoying cycling high in the Andes at just over 3800m/12470ft. For two fantastic biking trails down hills in the sacred valley if not the whole of Peru. From the interesting Inca site of Chinchero we traverse a vast set of Inca terraces on a perfectly restored and wide royal Inca trail. We then ride (or walk) down steps through a Eucalyptus forest to a spectacular view point. Then, comes more technical single track down to the village of Huayllabamba which will be the end of our first and exciting route. We take an hour drive up the hill to the highest point in the area 4330m/14210ft. In time for lunch. Then we will be ready for another truly amazing single track following an ancient Inca trail complete with original Inca stairways and tombs through the beautiful Totora canyon before we joining the road. Starts rough but soon turns into one of the most beautiful trails ever. It’s as of someone has come along and swept away the rocks leaving super smooth path, allowing you to whoop and swoop past local villagers, alpacas and llamas. Some excellent short cuts take us all the way down to the town of Calca based in the valley with time for a cold drink before heading to your hotel in the valley or Cusco.
